Kristie’s Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides assistance, support and cherished moments to critically ill children and their families.
Kristie’s Foundation, formerly Wishland, has programs that help families with a critically ill child, with all their special needs. We provide a Family Support program for Southern California families and a Wish assist Program for families traveling to the Southern California area on their child’s wish trip. And due to an urgent need, we are expanding and raising money to open Kristie’s Place, the first children’s end-of-life care facility in Southern California. Our first Kristie's Place will be located in Los Angeles.
How will Kristie’s Place be used?
End of Life Care: Most parents
do not want their child to die in the hospital, but their only other
option is to bring them home. Sometimes this is not possible and/or
it creates many challenges for families.
As a Bridge:
Some families decide that ultimately they want to take their child home
but need a bridge or transition place between hospital and home.
Kristie's Place will also be used for symptom or pain management.
Respite:
Families can get some much-needed help and rest during difficult days
of caring for their critically ill child.
Our
first Kristie's Place will be in Los Angeles. It will serve as a model so that we can begin
building these throughout the country and tackle this nationwide
need. For more information on opening a Kristie's Place in your area,
please call us at 714-408-9781.
What will Kristie's Place be like?
Family Suites: Kristie's
Place will have 9 or 10 large suites designed to meet the needs
of the children. The suites will include the
required medical equipment, yet maintain the appeal of a home
atmosphere. Each
suite will have a private bathroom, a small kitchen, and direct access
to a private patio.
Fireside Room: Using a
great-room concept, the Fireside Room will have many inviting areas.
From the large, attractive central room there will be access to the
library, computers, a game room and more. The area will be comfortable
with beautiful views and doors that lead to the gardens, play area and
an outdoor patio.
